Going abroad

By being a student at the IUT in Lens, you have the possibility of going on international mobility. In addition to the academic or professional aspect, going abroad can be an opportunity to meet new people, discover a new culture or improve in a foreign language. There are two types of mobility, namely study semesters and internships.

Going abroad

Semesters of study abroad

Students of professional license or second year of DUT have the possibility of leaving to study at a foreign university for one semester. The application phase takes place the year before mobility. This must take place in one of the partner universities of the IUT.

The BCI program (Office of Interuniversity Cooperation)

If you want to join a university in Quebec, you can participate in the BCI. This is an exchange program established between France and Quebec allowing you to join one of the following universities:

Internships abroad

Regarding internships abroad, students can do this in two ways: either in a university laboratory in the form of a study project, or in a company. The laboratory internships take place from the beginning of April to the end of June.

Internships in a university laboratory

In this case, students can complete their internship at a partner university of the IUT. These are not necessarily the same as those that welcome students for a semester of study.

Here is the list of partner universities for internships:

Technological Institute of Larissa, Greece

The Technological Institute of Larissa welcomes students as part of a university laboratory project. This project will focus on web programming.

Technological University of Warsaw, Poland

The Warsaw University of Technology welcomes students as part of a university laboratory project, with support from computer scientists from the business world.

West University of Timisoara, Romania

The Western University welcomes students as part of a university laboratory project. The work topics relate to web programming or game design.

Cegep du vieux Montreal, Canada

The Cegep du Vieux Montréal offers 2 internships each year to DUT students from the TC and GEA departments. The internship subjects are adapted to the CV and the wishes of the students.

Tohoku Kosen Federation, Japan

The Japanese Kosen are educational institutions equivalent to the French IUT. Our partners are Iwaki, Sendai, Ichinoseki, Akita, Aomori and Hakodate. Students are welcomed as part of a laboratory internship. The internship subjects are adapted to the CVs and wishes of the students.

Internships in companies abroad

Internships are an important part of the training of our students. They allow the use of knowledge acquired at the IUT and their application in a professional context.

The subject of the internship is chosen by the company and then validated by the student's home department (IT, Digital Media, Management or Commerce). During the internship, the department monitors the student with exchanges with the company, and as far as possible with visits by teachers to the place of the internship.

At the end of the internship, the student must prepare an internship report and a defense. The internship is evaluated jointly between the company and the department on the following elements:

Your internship can be carried out in a company abroad. It is therefore necessary that you find this internship by yourself.

If you are doing your internship in Europe, you can benefit from Erasmus + scholarships.

FAQ

What conditions must I meet to be able to go on mobility?

If you wish to join a partner university, a selection phase takes place within the IUT. The criteria taken into account are:
